As part of its methodology, Mongolia’s updated NDC emphasizes the need to develop a national roadmap to integrate the NDC targets into policy documents, programs and budgets. Vision 2050 is cited as an example of this, since the NDC targets coincide with this document, which sets out the national development framework. Taken together, the national strategy, policies and other instruments “define stakeholders’ responsibilities and monitoring structure for the implementation of the NDC.”

In addition to drawing on existing climate change policies, Mongolia’s NDC was shaped and finalized through comprehensive consultation exercises with a broad range of stakeholders.

Description of Monitoring and/or Implementation Mechanism 

Progress towards the fulfillment of the mitigation contribution will be assessed through an annual review of the implementation progress of the proposed policies and measures. Monitoring of climate change adaptation measures will be conducted in an integrated way as per the existing national programmes.
