Process for developing NDC 

To develop this NDC, a consultation process was held, which encouraged broad participation of the public.

Description of Monitoring and/or Implementation Mechanism 

Israel established a Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy, which informed the process of making the 2030 NDC targets. A national system for monitoring, reporting and verification was established in 2016,  drawing from “the guiding principles of the UN Climate Convention, and on the basis of methodologies developed in accordance with characteristics of the Israeli economy.”  More detailed information on the implementation of this NDC is said to be reflected in Israel’s Third National Communication and its Second Biennial Update Report, which will soon be submitted.

Process for developing NDC 

An inter-ministerial committee examined the potential for reducing GHG emissions by 2030. The committee consisted of representatives from all relevant government ministries, public utility companies, industry and commerce, local government, environmental and NGOs, academia and other national and international experts from various disciplines. Based on the comprehensive work and findings of the committee, a national emissions reduction target for Israel was formulated and is expected to yield significant benefits to the economy.
