To update this document, vulnerable groups and civic organizations were engaged through meetings. Key stakeholders were also present in this process.

Description of Monitoring and/or Implementation Mechanism 

The Government of Georgia established an advisory body called the Climate Change Council, tasked with implementing and tracking the updated NDC. Georgia also utilizes the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National GHG Inventories, as well as its 2013 Supplement. Additionally, Georgia follows its Climate Strategy and Action Plan to meet sectoral mitigation targets.

Summary of gender reference 

Georgia’s Updated NDC has a section dedicated to gender and climate change. It upholds women as agents of change by providing for their involvement  “in decision-making processes addressing healthcare issues induced by climate change and related to the activities and programs, such as awareness raising on climate change, capacity-building and knowledge-sharing aiming at changing behavior” and through their participation in decisions related to energy efficiency measures and efficient water resource use in households. Moreover, Georgia expresses its intent to gather and report information on gender-disaggregated data in national reports on GHG mitigation and adaptation. Furthermore, a gender analysis will be conducted.
